I graduated from the BIDMC/Harvard Psychiatry Residency Training Program in 2025.
I’m Gretchen Raring, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and mental health therapist with 20+ years helping people of all ages navigate life’s toughest challenges—including trauma, mental health struggles, addiction, veterans’ issues, homelessness, and involvement in the criminal justice system. I create a safe, collaborative space where you’re truly seen, heard, and supported. Together, we’ll explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors while building practical tools for lasting change and emotional growth.
I’m an LCSW currently licensed in CT, MA, NH, and ME. I believe that therapy is most effective when it’s practical and empowering. Whether you’re managing anxiety, depression, life transitions or grief, I aim to create a safe and supportive space where growth and change feel possible. My role is not to “fix” but to walk with you to gain insight, develop tools and move towards the version of you that feels most authentic.
In our process, as you work towards sharing whatever is on your mind, we listen, think, and feel together, paying attention to patterns that may echo your past and our broader sociopolitical context. We explore what may be difficult to think or feel through on your own—a process that can lead to deepened self-understanding, more curiosity, and new ways of relating with your internal and external worlds. This work can help you feel more spontaneous, more connected to yourself, to others, to your desires and fears, and can lead to new possibilities for intentional choices.
Hello! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I offer counseling services to adults, and specialize in working with current and former military, law enforcement, and first responders as well as their families for treatment of depression, trauma, grief and survivor's guilt, and work-related stressors.
I am passionate about creating space for clients from diverse backgrounds and cultures, to share freely who you are, being able to explore your values, feelings, and thoughts within an authentic and accepting environment. I believe we each have many layers that influence how we experience the world and our lives. My areas of expertise include addressing depression/anxiety, adjustment to college, grief, life transitions & stress related issues, finding existential meaning/life purpose, psychedelic integration (post experience with the medicine) and LGBTQIA+ together with related issues of marginalization and familial expectations.
